About the Author/CompanyThis battery driven, solar and wind turbine charged company, Cruising Companion Publications started in 2000, is the brainchild of Captain Marti Brown; a female solo sailor that has been cruising the Florida Coast and the Bahamas since 1990. She is a HAM radio operator, a reporting station for the Hurricane Watch Net, a member of the Waterway Radio and Cruising Club. Marti has a Masters in Nursing and is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner currently practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Florida Keys. She has been a licensed 100 ton Master USCG Captain for over 15 years and she resides in Marathon, in the Florida Keys. She currently serves on the Federal Medical Disaster Assistant Team, the Florida State Medical Response Team and the Monroe County Medical Reserve Corps.
