About the Author/Company

This battery driven, solar and wind turbine charged company, Cruising Companion Publications, is the brainchild of Captain Marti Brown; a female solo sailor that has been cruising the Florida Coast and  the Bahamas since 1990. She is a HAM radio operator, a reporting station for the Hurricane Watch Net, an active member of the Waterway Radio and Cruising Club, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Seven Seas Cruising Association. Marti is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a  licensed 100 ton Master USCG Captain, and currently resides in Boot Key Harbor, Marathon, in the Florida Keys on her 31' sailboat, The Other Woman.

If you're cruising around Boot Key Harbor, Marathon in the Florida Keys from October through April, give a call on the VHF. If you're a HAM radio operator, you can usually find me on the Waterway Radio and Cruiser's Club Net on 7268 LSB from 0745-0830 local time. My call sign is KF4TRG. Fair waves-both radio and ocean!
